2020 Hurricane Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund
Hurricane Laura, classified as a Category 4 Hurricane, made landfall in Louisiana in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 27. With wind speeds of up to 150 mph, the storm has already resulted in widespread damage to the region, as well as dangerous flash floods, power outages, and the potential for tornadoes in the surrounding states. The last time there was a storm of this magnitude was more than 100 years ago. Simultaneously, COVID-19 cases continue to be on the rise in Texas and Louisiana. On the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Ivan striking the Gulf Coast, the same area finds itself picking up the pieces after Hurricane Sally made landfall as a Category 2 storm at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach at 4:45 AM, Wednesday, September 16, 2020. As it slowly crawled to shore, the monster storm gained strength which means that this area of Alabama, and then quickly followed by the panhandle of Florida, endured hours and hours of rain and storm surge. This caused mass flooding and destruction, across a wide stretch of the Gulf Coast. We know that when disaster strikes, a wave of helpers always follow. Because Hurricane Laura was just a few weeks ago, many disaster relief organizations were already down on the Gulf and could transition some or all of their team to be in place to respond to the wrath of Sally. We have established The 2020 Hurricane Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund to support the communities impacted by the storm. This Fund includes pre-vetted nonprofits providing emergency response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are working to provide immediate relief; the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund are subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

2020 台風10号災害への寄付/Donations to the 2020 Typhoon Haishen Disaster Fund
In September 2020, typhoon (Haishen) hit the Okinawa and Kyushu areas and caused extensive damage to the region. Therefore, we have launched this campaign to raise money for NPOs that are working on disaster relief in Japan. There are people all over the world, including in Japan where we live, who are in need of volunteers and support. In these difficult times, we need support in embodying our Conscious Culture (self-awareness, understanding of others, creating the best possible experience by always looking and understanding the impact we have on others (our team, our customers and the larger community) and acting intentionally. Let's support those who are

Kerala Flood Relief Fund
In the first week of July, 2020, the Western Ghats of Kerala started experiencing heavy rain falls and is in the verge of facing yet another disaster. Kerala has already faced huge disaster in 2018, 2019 during the same period almost in the same epicenters, in the same Districts – Idukki, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode. The affected population are the historically marginalized and excluded communities – Dalits, Adivasis, Fishing Communities and migrant plantation labourers. RIGHTS is a community-funded NGO working in Kerala for the rights and betterment of vulnerable communities. In recent past, it has been active in the areas of rural employment, skills development, rural infrastructure, COVID-19 relief and education. The floods in Kerala come at a time when these communities are already reeling under the economic and health impacts of COVID-19. Around 25,000 people, of which a quarter are children, have been displaced and rendered homeless by this natural disaster. According to a CNN news report, 43 fatalities have been reported as a direct result of these floods. Those who have survived the immediate effect of landslide and floods are in imminent danger of water-borne diseases that accompany an inundation of this scale. The treacherous hilly terrain of Kerala makes flood relief a very challenging task for the government. Therefore the role of local grassroots organizations like RIGHTS, who’re intimately familiar with the local situation and connected with local communities, is critical in providing useful relief. - RIGHTS Founder Ajay Kumar has forumlated an immediate intervention plan to provide relief to those affected: - Supply of dry ration and NFI (Non Food Item) kits. - Monitoring and safeguarding children and the vulerable population in the rehabilitation process. - Provision of educational material for children so their education is not interrupted. This includes devices for online instruction. - Direct cash transfer to supplement loss of livelihoods. - COVID-19 health monitoring and provision of protective equipment: masks, cleaning supplies to the displaced being housed in temporary relief camps. Hindus for Human Rights is appealing to everyone in the extended Indian community world-wide to aid the relief work done by our partner, RIGHTS, and make a substantial difference in the lives of those in Kerala who have been uprooted by this calamity. Pictures and updates on relief work and urgent needs that arise during relief will be posted here: https://www.hindusforhumanrights.org/rights-fundraiser-updates-kerala Please donate generously to support Dalit and Adivasi families in Kerala, served by our partner organization RIGHTS, as they try to survive the Kerala Floods and COVID-19 pandemic. The need is urgent and every little but helps. Please indicate that your donation is for the FAMILIES SUPPORTED BY RIGHTS.

This fund to provide disaster relief after the explosion in Beirut to support the Lebanese Red Cross
We are all in shock witnessing the massive explosion that happened in Beirut on the 4th of August. This comes at a time when the Lebanese nation is already suffering from a catastrophic economic situation, an unprecedented pandemic and relentless government corruption. The impact was intense, rippling through several areas of the capital and could be heard 149 miles away on the island of Cyprus. According to the Lebanese Red Cross, the reported loss of life is more than 100 people and 4,000 injured. Currently, search and rescue teams are still digging through rubble looking for missing persons. There is significant damage to structures and authorities continue to assess damage. The exact cause of the explosion remains unconfirmed, though Lebanon authorities have stated that highly explosive material that has been stored at the port for years had blown up following a fire. Lebanese Red Cross teams are on the ground responding to humanitarian needs. All 125 Lebanese Red Cross ambulances are responding to the site of the explosion, rescuing and transporting the critically wounded to hospitals. On site, the Lebanese Red Cross is performing search and rescue in addition to treating people suffering from injuries. Triage and first aid stations have been set up across the Beirut port to treat injuries. Many Lebanese people have lost their homes and essentials. In response, the Lebanese Red Cross is providing emergency shelter for 1,000 families and anticipates providing shelter for as many as 10,000 families in the coming months. Food, water, hygiene kits, masks, gloves and other essentials are being distributed to vulnerable families in need. To meet emotional support needs, trained team members are providing crisis counseling to the community. For family members that have been separated by this event, the Red Cross Restoring Family Links program is reconnecting families. The primary focus is saving lives right now. As hospitals continue to be overwhelmed, the Lebanese Red Cross has 36 health centers and nine mobile medical units operating in all regions of the country. These medical services are provided to all people in need, free of charge. The money will be spent to the Lebanese Red Cross. Cyclone Amphan Relief 2020 Fund
Employee powered Cyclone Amphan Relief 2020 Amphan cyclone has made landfall on May 20th completely decimating enormous areas across coastal West Bengal and Orissa. Millions of people who have already been affected badly by #COVID19 pandemic and lockdown, have now lost their homes too. Our partners on the ground are working with the local administration to help people shelter in schools and flood centers. Cyclone Amphan’s landfall coincided with high tide resulting in breaching of embankments and widespread flooding. The local people, many of whom are subsistence farmers and fisherfolk, are also facing tremendous damage to what’s left of agriculture and their livelihoods. We are currently working on mitigating the immediate food and water shortage in the area. AID started working intensively with farmers in the region in 2009 after Cyclone Aila devastated Sunderbans exactly 11 years ago. What started as a small group of 20 farmers choosing to rebuild organic and sustainable farming by reviving farmlands from salinity, has grown to a movement of 25000 farmers in the past decade, with outlets established to directly sell produce to consumers in Kolkata. But, history repeats with itself with the severe cyclone Amphan breaching embankments and inundating farmlands with saline water from the sea. We expect similar to more deeper engagement in many fronts as post-Aila with these resilient communities to help rebuild literally from the ground up. We need your generous support now to stand by the people of Sunderbans & adjacent regions, while they are facing this enormous devastation amidst a pandemic and to help sustain the relief & rebuilding efforts. Cyclone Amphan + COVID-19 Fundraiser for West Bengal & Odisha
Rural and coastal communities in West Bengal and Odisha have already been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis and ensuing Government lockdown. Now, in the last 24+ hours, another existential threat has emerged in the region in the form of Cyclone Amphan - one of the strongest cyclones to hit the subcontinent in recent times. NEARLY 30 MILLION people are expected to be affected by this cyclone. The impact of Amphan has been amplified due to the COVID-19 lockdown, with many families unable to evacuate in advance and crucial relief efforts delayed. We are receiving regular updates from ground-zero by Asha projects such as Mukti, based in Purbasridharpur (https://ashanet.org/project/?pid=788). The latest communications from Mukti report wind speeds of 100-160kmph battering houses filled with families, and widespread flooding destroying schools & crops, and causing road blockages. Additionally, Mukti reports that flood relief centers are presently packed, and the threat of a COVID-19 epidemic breaking out in these centers is extremely high at the moment. Asha for Education supports 36 projects, predominantly in rural areas, across West Bengal and Odisha. Our educational projects act as linchpins in the communities that they serve, and at this crucial time are local nodes for mobilizing emergency supplies and support. Please help Asha support Amphan + COVID-19 relief efforts for our projects in West Bengal and Odisha at this critical time. Your donation directly helps our projects provide relief to these local communities facing devastation.
